It’s Mordorial Day Weekend
I may have mentioned that Corey was a theater major. His love for fantasy worlds has always warmed my heart, even though much of it is silly and fun and reminds me of a kid. Marrying him has brought out the kid in me as he introduced me to the things he enjoys.
One of those things is called Dagohir. It’s complicated, and someday I will go into details about all it is, but basically it’s a group of adults that dress up and take on different personalities based on Lord of the Rings characters. They meet, fight each other with foam swords, but generally have fun, camp and hang out. Prior to meeting Corey I had never imagined this, and when I first met him I laughed myself silly that adults would do such a thing. But they do, and it’s fun. It has the feel of a Renaissance Festival weekend, with more drinking and middle earth style battles.
Someday I will explain more about this, but for now I will let the pics do the talking.
The reason I am sharing this with you is because it is Mordorial Day weekend (Corey is in the Mordor army) and we are camping out all weekend for friendship and fun. Even I have to dress the part as the general’s wife though I am not in the army.
When I put away my grown up self, and quit laughing at how ridiculous it all was and simply let myself be part of it I learned to have a great time with this group. I hope your weekend is just as fun!

Let them bring the beer but you make sure to bring plenty of insect repellent. The bug gradient is Mordor out there.
@PrisonerxOfxLove - Haha! You are right, I will make sure I stock up!
I want to see Gollum pole-dancing.
that does sound fun… i would love to dress up and pretend to be someone else for a weekend! have a great time!
Again, I have but to say “epic.” Man, I want to go!
@Roadkill_Spatula - Come on now, nobody wants to see that! There is always a stripper pole at the “Stagger Inn” but there aren’t many girls to use it.
@Peridot21 - It’s a ton of fun, thank you!
@feyenigma - You could! They have events all over the country!
Have an absolutely wonderful time and take tons of photos cause we want to see:)
There is something a little off about boulder. I bet Homeland Security has a thick dossier on these nuts. Happy M-Day!
@Grannys_Place - Thank you, and I will! Have a great weekend!
@we_deny_everything - I’ve been trying to tell you that! I am sure Homeland Security keeps very close tabs on these sword yielding Orcs, Elves, and Dwarfs!
It helps to let oneself become part of things. Life goes better that way. IMO
hope you have a great time, it looks like a blast especially things involving that pole
snort.
ASS I SEE ASS
:O that sound so cool. I’m a huge Tolkien fan, of course cuz you know I’m a HUGE nerd lol I’ve never dressed up though…
The dycotomy always breaks my heart, Star Wars vs LoTR I can’t pick
It looks like a lot of fun. My best friends wife was on the internet and they took a turn writing a chapter like a book. Each one put their spin on the story. She also did role playing which my friend/husband did not like. lol
frank
We have a fair near here that goes all Med-evil, it’s become a pretty big place. This looks fun Enjoy.
Sounds like an action packed weekend
I see that my dearest Corey needs reinforcements as you do not take your Mordor duties seriously. Oh, the shame! Because I am not only well-trained, but sufficiently armed, I will assist him in his quest!
Perhaps you can be of service: If you do not speak on our conversation, I shall reward you greatly when I am the Ruler. Also………………could you wear the red number? (persuasion always works for me)
@Kellsbella - I think he just popped a nerd boner when I read this to him! Alas, you are right. I do not take my duties as seriously as they deserve and I will bend the knee for you while wearing the red number!
@SisterMae - I believe you are right! Thanks!
@Kris0logy - Thanks, I will! I know Ragnarok (in PA) has more than 2000 people at that camp, it can get wild!
@ANVRSADDAY - That sounds like a lot of fun!
@xXxlovelylollipop - Haha, you should try it. It’s like being a nerd on steroids!
“I amar prestar aen. Han mathon ne nen. Han mathon ne chae. A han noston ne
‘wilith.”
@ShimmerBodyCream - There is a lot of ass out there!
@promisesunshine -
@godfatherofgreenbay - There are many parts that posting pictures is not acceptable!
@vexations - I agree!
They do this in a small city a few miles from me… totally forgot about it… I should go see if they are there this weekend
@Shadowrunner81 - Oh my, that is too geek for me. I hope Corey can interpret for me!
@MrTrololo - Prime trolling grounds!
@BoulderChristina - “The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it
in the air.”
Galadriel at the beginning of the LOTR movies.
@Shadowrunner81 - ringwe aru, ringwe Palurin ^-^
@xXxlovelylollipop - Okay I give up. Google searches keep sending me to Sarah Palin websites. What does that mean? lol
@Shadowrunner81 - Cold water, cold World
@BoulderChristina - I should show up dressed as Mr. Trololo and sing the trololo song LOL
@Shadowrunner81 - This will make Corey so happy
@MrTrololo - Trolls look much different at these types of things and sing different songs. I will post the latest troll song soon
sounds like great fun! this reminds me of a medieval festival in a town in Germany, Landshuter Hochzeit (Landshut Wedding). it celebrates the wedding that brought peace between two lands back in the day. of course the girl who “wins” the honor of dressing up as the bride and wave to everyone from a float during the parade is always the Mayor’s daughter….or so i’m told. all i know is it’s a weekend of costumes, great food and Bavarian beer.
great photos. i love them. have a great time.
@TheSutraDude - Thank you, I hope I have as much fun as you did!
Have a blast!
Oh cool? You guys LARP? Some friends of mine actually owned a LARPing business a few years back. They’ve since sold it, but I always browsed the pictures and it looked like they had fun.
I don’t think I could get into it like that, though. Haha.
But nonetheless, my husband still has a foam sword. XD
Looks like something my sister would be into; although I don’t know if she is a lord of the rings fan, she is into the ren fair and whatnot. have a good weekend!
fun! photos of you and Corey must be forthcoming. !
Sounds like delightful fun. One should NEVER EVER pack away their inner child. To do so makes one wilt and become old much too fast. Have an absolutel blast and tell us all about it later. LOVED the pics. Looks like something I would have fun doing. I’m trying to turn my inner child lose more often. *smile…
That one pic reminds me of a guy who said he wouldn’t mind seeing Liv Tyler and Miranda Otto pole dancing in their “Rings” costumes. LOL
I recently overheard a conversation in which a guy mentioned that the director of the Houston Renaissance Festival has legally changed his name to King George, and goes about, every day, in Tudorian regal garb.
Hahaha i love LOTRs so thats so nifty– I’d love to go to one of those!
Glad you are enjoying yourself.
@Thatslifekid - Thanks! We definitely had fun
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - Yes, it’s basically LARPing. But I can say that though the army members will not! Because they don’t use *magic* and they hit each other, they call it a sport. I don’t get the difference, either.
@heckels - Thank you! They are more fun than I would have imagined!
@plantinthewindow - Thanks!
@MzSilver - The inner child gets ignored and forgotten, doesn’t it? I am with you, let’s set them loose on the world
@RighteousBruin - Oh my, let’s never tell Corey about that, ok? I don’t want to see his mind start ticking about the possibilities!
@YouToMe - Thank you! It was fun!
@BoulderChristina - Haha. I don’t think I could ever get into a story line enough to “play pretend” with other people. XD I’ll just stick to my MMORPG. LOL
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - I didn’t either, but you know, when you have enough to drink it’s really a blast!
thats awesome i love lord of the rings. i never knew that they had that kind of event though
@okitapieds - Thank you! It’s fun!
