A Gift of My Own
Even though it’s Father’s Day, I received a gift of my own in the mail. My dear friend, John, (@plantinthewindow) sent me a book of poems that he wrote himself. It’s called A Year in the Life of Empty, and I will spend most of the day on my porch cruising through it.
It had a timely arrival, thankfully, because I had just finished my book, Neanderthals, Bandits and Farmers, How Agriculture Really Began.. (It was better than it sounds.)
I checked my real email and there was an email from a Xanga friend (@MzSilver) with some pics of a hunky man. She knows how I like hot men!
(Not really the pic she sent me, the pic she sent me was of a real man, not a fantasy one!)
Corey is gone for awhile and my family is celebrating Father’s Day with their gents, so I am going to grab BoulderSalem and take him for a hike. (He is itching to go.)
Have a great Father’s Day!

I hope you enjoy it. : ) have a great day, Christina.
that other book looks really interesting!
I liked his book a lot I was howliin protest as I read many lines
but that’s just a sign of art- something that moves you
enjoy
ng and throwing popcorn
Can you say “neolithic?” It is fascinating to me that agriculture was invented so recently — after the migration of early Americans along the Bering Straits. It is why they never evolved a tolerance to alcohol. And long, long after the extinction of Neanderthals. … but I babble again …
Good Morning, Christina!! I know, it’s afternoon for you, but here in Cali some of us are just getting started.
… Thank you SO much for the shout out. And now, don’t get me wrong, but I’m thinking the hunky pictures I sent are WAY WAY better than the dude above. Hmmm… I’m thinking even Salem looks WAY better (so gorgeous). I know, I know… there is no accounting for taste.
*bodacious laughter… Give me Daniel Craig any day and even my hunk would agree with that comment.
… Have a truly enjoyable you day and I hope to see pictures of where you and Salem went later. Thank you for a friendship that is truly special. You do know how to bring a smile… ((((HUGS))))
It’s a marvelous book, and I find it fits just about all of my moods. Enjoy your hunky men pictures, as I enjoy my lovely women. I will be on the trail, in Sedona, later today.
Enjoy your day miss bc
@plantinthewindow - I am enjoying it so far, thank you!
@starmanjones - I must not have gotten that far yet!
@we_deny_everything - This book argues that it didn’t happen 10,000 years ago but rather 40,000 years ago! It makes sense, but the jury is still out for me!
@MzSilver - Your hunk is hunkier, but come on! Chiseled jaw, barrel chest, dark eyes… He is yummy enough for me!
@RighteousBruin - Enjoy it! We went for a quick walk outside, but will hit a trail this afternoon I believe.
@xplorrn - Happy Father’s Day to you, doll!
@BoulderChristina - Neanderthals were total carnivores. They’ve shown this with bone analysis. The Cro-magnons probably also ate fruit and grains, BUT this does not make them farmers.
@we_deny_everything - I will write an entire post about the book’s ideas! It will be riveting, I tell you! (You and I will probably be the only comments!)
That is SO neat getting a book signed by the author who you know personally!
Going hicking with Salem ? Watch out for lions, tigers and bears…Oh my !
Have an absolutely wonderful day.
@PrisonerxOfxLove - I know! I am so excited!
@catstemplar2 - I am much more worried about the damn rattlers!
@Grannys_Place - Thank you, and you as well!
Botany and genetic is unraveling our past. Early figs only grow by humans. In America corn was a staple food. In Asia rice is all essential to civilization. I hope to read some more findings if you continue.
@PPhilip - Well, thank you! I will write a post about it then, I assumed it was only interesting to me!
That hunk of a man on the top is a Bollywood star John Abraham. I am glad you got a gift from John. His poetry is good to relax to. I hope my book will get published soon too. I can’t wait for the final wrinkles to be taken care of.
I took my husband for breakfast to the local food store. He enjoyed it a lot I think. He drove home and I walked back a mile. Felt good to burn those calories off.
The daughter came with a plate of lemon bars that she made for dad, along with a gift card from T J Maxx. Now he will sit and be glued to the TV for the next five or six hours watching the US Open. All the men in the family, are addicted to golf. Even little Anderw!
Glad you are having a ‘you time’ Cricket. Sorry my comment is more of a thesis! Just got carried away.
@ZSA_MD - What is it about men and golf? I can see enjoying to play, but not to watch. I commend you on walking right after breakfast. I can eat nothing without slipping into a “food coma” which makes me worthless afterwards!
Is that who that man is? Oh my, he is a honey, isn’t he?It sounds like you are having a great day, lady. Thank you for the warm wishes, I am trying to make the most of my me time!
That’s a nice day. Salem looks impatient.
Both books sound great. Men just don’t turn me on no matter how hot they are. At least none of the ones I have ever met. Maybe there is a man out there for me, but until I meet him, I will stick with the ladies!
Ms.Silver picks out great photos of guys and gals. She is a genius at that.
Nice your got a gift of poetry–and an original one from the author.
Cute dog–my dog lives to take his walk.
frank
@Aloysius_son - You crack me up!
@angys_coco - Not anymore! It was hot out there, he was happy to come inside!
@ANVRSADDAY - I’m a pretty lucky lady! Mine is pretty lazy on hot days like this!
That agriculture book sounds interesting actually. I am a bit of a history nerd.
@leaflesstree - Haha, I will post about it! I really thought I was the only person in the world that would buy that book. It was used and small and in an obscure corner, I thought it was just sitting there until it rotted!
The first book is excellent; I hope you’re enjoying it.
The book about how farming began sounds awesome. I must find it!!!
@lanney - I am, thank you!
@lonelywanderer2 - I really believed I was the only one… it’s 2.98 used at the Boulder Bookstore!
@BoulderChristina - Sweet!!! I’ll have to look on Amazon.
@lonelywanderer2 - Yikes!!! It’s very expensive there. From 8.50 up to 126.50!!!
@lonelywanderer2 - It’s a tiny book, I will post the highlights for free!
Your dog is beautiful!!
Haha how cool! It’s great! John has become one of my favorite poets.
@oceanstarr - He’s great, isn’t he? Thanks!
@amyha819 - Thank you!
@xdeelynnx - It was too hot, he prefers air conditioning!
