Scared Shitless
Most of you know the dear hubby is out of town a few weeks. To celebrate, I did things I wouldn’t do when he was here. Like popcorn for dinner (no dishes that way), reading too long, and watching scary movies all night, every night. (OK, until midnight or so, but that’s late for me!) I know this may not be the brightest idea I have ever had, watching scary movies alone all night 3 nights in a row, but I never claimed to be the brightest bulb in the pack.
I don’t like the slash ‘em types of movies, I like spooky, jumping out of your seat kind of movies. So I have watched ghost movies, exorcism movies, and spooky monster movies every single night.
Night #1 – After a few creepy ones, I locked the door, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. I did look under the bed but I only found @TheTheologiansCafe, nothing unusual. This is one of the movies I watched.

Night #2 – After only one movie, I was tired and nervous so I let my big hairy beast crawl in bed with me. Again, my doors were locked when I went to sleep. I suffered through 110 pounds of smelly, snoring, farting dog so I had someone to cuddle with. He seemed to enjoy the bed over his blanket on the floor, and stayed almost all night. This is what I watched.

Night #3 – Not only is he going to sleep with me, but he rode along in the car with me to the store and I am forcing him to sit near me while I watch this movie.

So I sit here, my sister is asleep and I am too proud to call a girlfriend. The dog is snoring at my feet and I am trying to muster up my guts to dash into the bedroom and hide under the covers with Salem.
Tomorrow I am cooking dinner and watching Little Miss Sunshine.

Hehehe. I love scary movies too, but I can’t watch them alone (even during daylight) because then I too become scared shitless. My imagination really does get the best of me sometimes. But don’t worry… I won’t let the monsters get you, I promise.
@light_blue_fables - Thank you! If I don’t come on in the next few days, call the authorities!
Have to ask….how did your “genius mind” determine it would be a “good idea” to watch scary movies when you are in the house alone? This sound likes a new one liner for the “scumbag brain” meme.
I think I remember you saying you were going to forego horror flicks. The mind can be an evil adversary at times…haha!
I guess we humans love doing things like this contrary to our better judgement.
lololol. I always feel like someone is watching me after I watch a scary movie! Just play music and try not to scare yourself.
@SoullFire - Haha, I’m pretty sure I have never been accused of genius! Andyes, we sometimes walk into the most stupid things with our eyes wide open. It’s sad, really!
@amyha819 - Great idea! Thank you!
I watched a show about these nasty little critters crawling out of the toilet one night when I was living alone and my kids were all ou ton their own.
I still will not go to the bathroom with out turning on all of the lights and checking the toilet to make sure there is nothing in it.
@Grannys_Place - haha, that’s hilarious! I always check my backseat before I get in the car, too!
I watched the national news and saw your state having the wild fires. Kinda figured you’re no where near them but was concened. Scary movies isn’t my thing. Real life is bad enough. Be glad you have your dog with ya!!!
@Zoz36 - The fires are about 50 miles from here, where the rest of my family lives. It was starting to get contained but the winds were so bad today that it took several steps back.
I agree, real life is scary enough. Why do I do this to myself?
Paranormal Activity did not scare me. I wanted to love it…I was excited to watch it, but I fell asleep in the theater when I went to see it. Insidious was pretty decent, though.
Go watch Paranormal Activity 1, then The Human Centipede, then Session 9. You’re welcome.
Oh you bad little thing!
Little Miss Sunshine is much better.
I don’t watch scary movies; I have my family. Um, so you let Salem have dibs to the bed over TheoDan? Hmmm……I’m learning so much more about you…
My son watched the movie Insidious and he said it was the only movie that scared him ever.
I’m not much of a scary movie kind of gal even with my hunky sweety around and after looking at those pictures alone tells me why. I am such a whimp. LOL @ finding Dan under the bed. Now that’s SCARY!!
you should watch ‘sunshine cleaning’ as well… it’s pretty fine! i watched this canadian series called ‘thorne’ – you want creepy, try that one… caio for now bc…
I don’t like the modern horror movies at all. I like the old B&W ones from when I was a kid. lol
My wife refuses to watch anything scary before bed, so I am on the outlook for romantic comedies to record.
We used to have a very big Siamese blue eyed cat sleep on our bed, but he slept on my wife’s behind. lol
frank
I am not for horror movies. Little Miss Sunshine will be nice.
I can’t do scary movies. They creep me out WAY too much. Like you, I’d have nightmares for days! Sometimes I can’t read scary books before bed. Thats why I read them during the day & the happy romance or other types before bed! LOL NO nightmares from those! LOL
Little Miss Sunshine is good!
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - Insidious was scary!! How could you fall asleep? I need nerves of steel like that…
@RazielV - OMG The Human Centipede left me disturbed for a month!! I still think that is the scariest bad guy EVER!! (Just remembering it will leave me with nightmares tonight) And thank you!
@PrisonerxOfxLove - Don’t tell on me!
@Thatslifekid - I agree. And if that doesn’t watch my scary movie residual off, I am going to follow it up with Matilda!
@Kellsbella - Dan is much bigger and snores much louder!
@TheTheologiansCafe - If I were there I would have crawled in bed with you guys, I wouldn’t have been too proud!
@MzSilver - Haha, that would be, wouldn’t it? I should know better, I really should. There’s something very stupid about the way I make decisions..
Maybe an afternoon viewing would be better.
@xplorrn - I may check that out, when I am not home alone that is! Have a great week, cutie!
@ANVRSADDAY - I grew up on that type of movie, my mom had us watch them all! Haha about your cat, at least it was small! I think if my dog slept on me I couldn’t move if I tried!
@angys_coco - It’s time for a nice movie instead of a scary one!
@karoline1982 - Good idea… switch it up and watch romance before bed.. You’re more clever than I am!
@blonde_apocalypse - I think you’re right!
Little Miss Sunshine is funny, that will make you laugh! Alan Arkin is great in that.
Scary movies don’t creep me out until I have to go into the attic late at night.
@seedsower - Oh, I thank the stars I don’t have an attic!! I love him in that movie, it’s one of my favorites. Funny, heartwarming and sad all at once – much needed break from all the spooks I’ve been watching!
well, good for you doing some things that you don’t normally do. =)
i just now realized that you meant you were praying for me, not struggling yourself. lol. i’m a little slow to understand at times. thanks for your rec and usual kindness and caring. hugs
I would think that the only thing more frightening for a woman than finding Dan under your bed would be finding Dan IN your bed.
You should at least have a proper slumber party with a group of your friends if you’re going to watch scary movies all night.
That way you at least you have people around to jump and scream with and then giggle saying, “Ooooh… You should have seen your face when the axe man came swinging in!!!”
Haha this is so funny! I love all those movies, especially the last one! After watching a scary movie I always turn on some Family Guy for an hour before I try going to sleep
Or leave the lights on!
@KristyBabyy - You are braver than me, I was too afraid to stay in the living room!
@Ampbreia - I used to do that, and you are right. Next scary movie I will invite my sister, daughters and girlfriends!
@ColdSkivvies - Haha, I can see your point! Though many people mind find his charms irresistible, too. Why do you think I keep him tied and gagged under my bed?
@YouToMe - Ah, I am doing well. Sorry to confuse you! We need to catch up, I wonder how you are.
I watched Insidious one night too…in my basement. I was afraid to sleep after that.
Dogs make everything 60% less scary.
@xdeelynnx - That movie is scary as hell, isn’t it?!?
@ShimmerBodyCream - Agreed. He makes the bedroom 75 percent stinkier, too. Fact.
You totally should have watched The Woman in Black. That movie scared the shit outta me!! I screamed so many times, omg.
@BoulderChristina - Definitely! Raz laughed at me for being so scared
@crazy2love -Is it out on video now? I saw that in the theaters and at one point I screamed out loud!
@xdeelynnx - Haha, Corey would laugh at me, too. I think Raz was laughing at me last night, he gave me more scary movies to add to the list!
@BoulderChristina - Yep, it’s at Redbox. I watched it a few weeks ago. Alone. In the dark :/
I am a wimp too…braver than me, I couldn’t do a scary movie alone. All I can think is, “Good thing she’s not adding pizza on top of all that.” Your dreams could go off the charts.
@BoulderChristina - He’s trying to get me to watch all 3 Paranormal Activity movies and both Human Centipede movies…it’s just not going to happen.
@crazy2love - At least I had a dog!
@Kris0logy - Haha, you’re right! This weekend seemed like an entire exercise in self abuse – beer, popcorn, scary movies.. I had to run a few miles this morning to shake it all off!
@xdeelynnx - I would say I have to advise against that, even though I may do it myself! Do as I say, not as I do!!
@BoulderChristina - I had pizza yesterday & ice cream today…NOT a good sign hehehee
@BoulderChristina - I’ll resist as long as I can. If he forces me to, I’ll just find the worst possible chick flick ever and make him suffer
@xdeelynnx - I suggest Jane Austin, just saying her name strikes terror in my husband’s heart! He will do anything to avoid that!!
@Kris0logy - When you live closer, we can always have beer, pizza and ice cream together! That will teach the boys to leave town, won’t it?
It’s so hard to find a good scary movie. Usually the really, really bad ones are the best.
@xdeelynnx - The LONG version of Pride & Prejudiced with Colin Firth. *evil glint* of course it could back fire mine loves it…
@amateurprose - I agree, Human Centipede is one of them! Insidious was scary as hell, though. Also the Lady in Black. But then, I’m a puss.
@Kris0logy - After he made me sit through Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (the remake), he put on The Princess Bride for me (it’s one of his favorites)
@Kris0logy - He makes me swoon… I have no idea why, maybe it’s his update manner or his British accent.. I have always had a thing for uptight assholes though. Good thing my taste improved with age and I didn’t remain married to one!
@xdeelynnx - OMG he is just as sadistic as I am! No wonder you love him!
@amateurprose - No, but I am free this afternoon.. maybe I should check it out. Boob shots? Every scary movie needs boobies.
Have you seen Orphan? It’s pretty bad but I couldn’t stop watching it. Vera Farmiga (smokin hot) plays the mom, so that helped, but it sucked me in for some reason.
@BoulderChristina - Oh! He’s also trying to get me to watch Ju-On, the Japanese version of The Grudge
@xdeelynnx - The Grudge was SCARY. But maybe subtitles make it less so? I doubt it, Pan’s Labyrinth is the creepiest kids movie I have ever seen and it was subtitled.
@BoulderChristina - Nope. No boob shots. You might want to tape a pic of tits to the screen so you don’t feel cheated. I do that with everything I watch. In fact, if I am having a conversation with a boring person I will usually tape a picture of boobs on them as well.
@BoulderChristina - I still get the heebie jeebies thinking about the Grudge girl. Just to freak me out at night, Raz will make the noise and try to crawl like the girl does.
@amateurprose - You’re a damn genius, that’s what you are!
@xdeelynnx - If you think about Mr Knightly in Emma that fits my Daniel.
@xdeelynnx - You GOTTA watch it!! It’s really good! Well…for what it is
@xdeelynnx - I am literally laughing out loud… what I would give to see a VLog of Raz with his hair over his face crawling like that.. Making the sound… My sides hurt just thinking about it!
@Kris0logy - Lucky,lucky lady!
@BoulderChristina - You should ask him to do one
He can make his eyes go all weird too.
@RazielV - We would like to request a VLog of your Grudge imitation! Please!
@xdeelynnx said it was a good one!
There is a lot of things I do that can be classified as self punishment. So I guess you feel like a bad girl and deserve to be punished?
Anyway I punished myself last night and feel punished enough to go back to real life. Now onto other things…
@PPhilip - Yeah, it’s a form of gluttony you could say. Doing things in excess that I don’t normally do because I can.. I am moving on, too. Starting with a jog this morning and ending with a healthy dinner tonight!
ha. you’re funny.
@BoulderChristina - I can honestly say that most scary movies don’t make me blink….the one that sort of scared me was the Exorcism of Emily Rose.
@BoulderChristina - still struggling, honestly.
my dad is coming home any minute now. really feeling burnt out/overwelmed. going to try to take a little power nap for few minutes.
thanks so much for your kindness, sugah
I had a friend who rented “The Ring” and watched it right before bed. She ended up calling her boyfriend in the middle of the night to come and get the DVD because she couldn’t stand to have it in the apartment!
@lanney - Now THAT’s funny!
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - Ooh that one is scary…
@plantinthewindow - I’m a chicken!
@lanney - HA that sounds like me, I’d prob put it out on the porch..
@Kris0logy - Haha, I don’t think I would have the guts to get out from under the covers to do it!
lol good thing you have Salem, otherwise you’d probably be a mess.
@leaflesstree - I know, right? Poor pup didn’t know surrogate husband would be part of his job when he came to live with me!
LOL. I love this post because you described myself perfectly whenever I choose to watch scary movies by myself! I don’t have a huge dog, but my little 10lb dog can muster up a good bark to (hopefully) scare the crazies away.
Also, popcorn is definitely an acceptable dinner!
@heythereJOANN - It’s all about the size of the fight in the dog, isn’t it? Haha, I am glad I am not alone, nice to meet you!
@BoulderChristina - I’ll see what I can do
@amateurprose - I’ve avoided that movie for the reason you initially listed. Is it worth suffering through?
WOW WE DO THAT TOO WHEN WE ARE ON PHOTO SHOOTS LOL A BIT OF GUILTY PLEASURE …ADD US WE ARE NEW
Wow, I couldn’t do that! I hate being alone…and watching a scary movie is out of the question. I already freak out over small sounds!
I don’t watch horror movies. My children do, and then they come and tell me, “mom, I have never seen a more scary movie. You should watch it!” Why? I am not crazy like them. It seems like you are a glutton for punishment.
@ZSA_MD - I agree, what is wrong with me? Haha
